Old Bernal is one of the oldest home in Sans Fransisco neighborhood, this old cottage build on 1860 and never been repaired for years. Feldman Architecture been requested to repair and redesign this house, the point is to expand, modernize the small dark house of original building and maintaining the rustic charm. Feldman give contemporary design to this house that contain bedroom suite, two studies room and ten foot wide wing garage. They clear up the roof and upper floor of this contemporary house design to illuminates the stone wall and kitchen. There’s interesting two story high bookshelves that connect first floor and stuides room. The other element that make the contemporary concept of this house include exposed ceiling joists, thin metal handrails and cantilevered contemporary wood stair treads. The mixing of wood and stone with the clean glass make a new life into this old contemporary home re-design.
